Special Recognition

Congratulations to the PCH Jazz Band for their outstanding performance at the UMSL/Greater St. Louis Jazz Festival over the weekend.  Alayna Clayman, Luke Mankovich, Charlie Mosley, Cole Edelstein, and Nick Laramore were recognized for "Outstanding Musicianship."

Nick Laramore entered an original Jazz composition in the University of Missouri Creating Original Music Project, (Mizzou's New Music Initiative.)  This is a well funded, annual competition.  (Last year Adam Cohen won an Honorable mention in the project.)  I am pleased to announce that Nick's Jazz composition WON the High School Jazz division.  On April 16th, at an all day recognition ceremony, his composition was performed by members of the Mizzou Jazz band and Music faculty.  He was also awarded a $1,000 cash prize and an additional $1,000 will be awarded to Parkway Central.

On another note.......(ha, ha,)  Adam Cohen was awarded a four year, full tuition scholarship to the University of Missouri to study music composition and theory.  His scholarship award is also funded through the same program as the Creating Original Music Project.  Mizzou has become a champion of young composers and their works.
